Lost Place: Oppenheim manor house on Fühlinger See in Cologne

Continent or ocean
Country

Lost Places appear as a direct connection to times past. Here a piece of terrazzo floor, there the remains of opulently designed stairwells and everything in the center of erosion, devastation and the green world that is gradually reclaiming its land.

The Herrenhaus Oppenheim am Fühlinger See is such an interesting Lost Place in the district of Cologne. It was built towards the end of the 19th century and stimulates the imagination. One inevitably thinks of the beautiful poem by Stefan George from the same time:

Come to the declared dead park and see:
The shimmer of distant smiling shores.
The unexpected blue of the pure clouds
Lights up the ponds and the colorful paths.

As many haunted tales as brambles surround the abandoned and half-ruined building, long since taken over by graffiti artists.

Karin was particularly taken with the portraits of the ghost graffiti, which she photographed with a LUMIX LX100M2. Karin ghost hunting

So welcomes a Daisy Duck just as much as dark figures on the walls serve as evidence of the haunted stories. Karin was particularly impressed by the portraits of the ghost graffiti, which she photographed with a LUMIX LX100M2.

There are no signs warning against entering the building, although that would certainly make sense, because neither the stairs nor the floors with their holes inspire confidence, so we strongly advise against visiting. But the mighty building is also very impressive from the outside and a tour of the surrounding paths shows one or the other impressive perspective of the property.
